Prior to joining Dezan Shira & Associates, Kyle worked in government relations and China trade policy for various public and private organizations. His work included assisting in high-level, US-China bilateral trade dialogues and organizing public-private cooperation programs to promote US and foreign investment in China.
Kyle has a master's degree in economics and international trade from the University of International Business and Economics, in Beijing, and dual bachelor's degrees in economics and global affairs from George Mason University, in Washington D.C. He has also been a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford and the Beijing Language Culture University.”
Ziv Rotenberg is an innovation and business strategist and IP expert specializing in innovation strategy
and integration of IP and business. He is the founder of Group8 Consultants, an innovation strategy
consultancy. Ziv works with tech companies, startups, investors, universities and research institutions on
building innovation infrastructures that drive the creation of valuable strategic assets and their use to
drive business, achieve strategic goals, create opportunities and lower risks.
For the past few years Ziv has also been involved in the startup ecosystem in China and mentors startups
at Tsinghua x-lab and at SOSV’s Chinaccelerator and MOX accelerators. He is often invited to talk in
various forums on business, innovation and IP and teaches students in business programs on innovation
and IP business strategies (select programs include the Asia Innovation & Entrepreneurship Immersion
Program and TIE2 Tsinghua-TUM International Innovation Entrepreneurship Exchange). Ziv is involved
several academic circles in China and works to increase awareness among investors and companies to
the significance of IP as a driving force for innovation and as a strategic tool for obtaining growth, scaleup
and for reaching strategic business goals. He is the author for several articles on IP and strategy in
China (Ziv’s articles have been published, among others, in IAM Magazine and China IP Magazine). Ziv
also advises companies on the formulation of a China IP strategy and on IP aspects of entering China or
collaborating with Chinese companies and investors. He was recently selected as a special advisor to the
State of Israel on IP aspects in free trade agreement negotiations with the People’s Republic of China.
Born and raised in Israel, Ziv Started his career as an IP lawyer in Israel’s leading IP firms. He worked with
some of the world’s most innovative people and the world’s largest companies, helping them protect
their interests in inventions and brands and leverage intellectual assets to create economic and strategic
value. He was involved in complex disputes and transactions (including tech-driven M&As, licensing,
investment etc.) and advised numerous companies on IP protection, monetization and value-creation.
Since moving to China in 2011, he has been focusing on innovation and business ecosystems and has
been helping companies in various stages leverage their innovation capabilities to create competitive
advantages and value. Ziv holds an LLB Degree from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an MBA
from Ben Gurion University in the Negev, and currently works on his PhD on international aspects of IP
in the workplace at China University of Political Science and Law.
